adH0cc spectroscopic classification of SN 2019tjt

Abstract:
We have obtained an optical spectrum of SN 2019tjt, which shows a mostly featureless, blue continuum with broad He II emission, characteristic of a young Type II supernova.

The adH0cc programme for an "accurate determination of H0 with core-collapse supernovae" reports the classification of the optical transient SN 2019tjt. The target was supplied by the Zwicky Transient Facility ZTF (Kulkarni 2018, 2018ATel11266....1K) and the ATLAS survey (Tonry et al. 2018, 2018PASP..130f4505T). The observations were performed  on the night of 2019 October 30 with the ESO Very Large Telescope UT1, equipped with the FORS2 spectrograph and grism 300V, covering a wavelength range from 3400 to 9600A at a resolution of 10A.

TNS2019tjt [ZTF19acignlo]00:17:03.672+31:34:20.88SN II0.0476AGC 1027560.0476ZTF, ATLAS7dThe spectrum shows a relatively featureless, blue continuum with broad He II emission superimposed, characteristic of a young Type II supernova. A weak, narrow He II emission line is also detected, suggesting long-lasting flash ionisation of a surrounding CSM. The appearance of the spectrum is consistent with the phase of 7d after explosion estimated from the ZTF and ATLAS light curves. At an absolute magnitude of -18.4 as inferred from our V-band acquisition image, the SN is very bright for a SN II.00:17:03.673+31:34:21.08SN II0.0476
