Sylvia Beer report/s the discovery of a new astronomical transient.

IAU Designation: AT 2003me
Coordinates (J2000): RA = 14:48:54.089 (222.2253693) DEC = +05:00:47.56 (5.0132098)
Discovery date: 2003-04-28 08:36:53 (JD=2452757.8589468)

Potential host galaxy: SDSS J144854.00+050051.3
Host redshift: 0.125864

Remarks: This transient was first identified by Sylvia Beer using the Galaxy Zoo website here: https://www.zooniverse.org/projects/zookeeper/galaxy-zoo/talk/subjects/34240040. In the SDSS catalogue it is identified as a star, yet is not in later surveys by DECaLS, PanSTARRS or earlier SDSS images. Christine Macmillan also took part in the discussion.

Photometry

Discovery (first detection):
Discovery date: 2003-04-28 08:36:53
Flux: 20.88 ABMag
Filter: r-Sloan
Instrument: SDSS-Spec
Telescope: Sloan Digital Sky Survey

Remarks: The Apparent r-band photometric value was taken from the SDSS catalogue. As explained above, the transient is labelled as a star yet is not in later surveys by DECaLS, PanSTARRS or earlier SDSS images. An r-band Absolute magnitude of -17.9 was also calculated.

Last non-detection:
