I. Theunissen-limpens, R. Nowell report/s the discovery of a new astronomical transient.

IAU Designation: AT 2013kb
Coordinates (J2000): RA = 10:06:26.640 (151.611) DEC = +00:57:51.12 (0.9642)
Discovery date: 2013-01-08 07:37:06.000 (JD=2456300.8174306)

Potential host galaxy: SDSS J100627.07+005753.2
Host redshift: 0.046

Remarks: This transient was first noticed on the Galaxy Zoo website in a thread started by I. Theunissen-limpens at this address: Participants Richard Nowell and CeciliaB pointed out and confirmed the transient.

Discovery (first detection):
Discovery date: 2013-01-08 07:37:06.000
Flux: 22.1 ABMag
Filter: R-Cousins
Instrument: DECAM
Telescope: CTIO - 4-m Victor M. Blanco Telescope

Remarks: The r-band magnitude was calculated by R. Nowell using APT. The reference star used was SDSS J100624.13+005823.9 As the Apparent magnitude seemed a low value, an Absolute magnitude was calculated, giving the approximate value of -14.41 (with K-correction).
