Zhihao Zhong, Hongyan Zhou, Luming Sun report/s the discovery of a new astronomical transient.

IAU Designation: SN 2015cq
Coordinates (J2000): RA = 16:29:38.600 (247.410833) DEC = +40:14:10.00 (40.236111)
Discovery date: 2015-05-20 00:00:00 (JD=2457162.5)

Potential host galaxy: SDSS J162938.32+401407.4
Host redshift: 0.028

Remarks: We found an Halpha broad emission line in the northeast of the galaxy when glancing over its MaNGA data. After removing the light contribution from the galaxy, the spectrum clearly resembles a SN II.

Photometry

Discovery (first detection):
Discovery date: 2015-05-20 00:00:00
Flux: 23.46 ABMag
Filter: g-Sloan
Instrument: Other
Telescope: Other

Remarks: We used MaNGA IFU data. We made image subtraction between MaNGA synthetic images in SDSS g, r and i bands and SDSS images and measured the magnitudes. The errors are obtained from measuring fluxes from some other positions.

Last non-detection:
Archival info: SDSS
