Group: ASAS-SN
E. Falco, M. Calkins, P. Challis, R. Kirshner, J. L. Prieto, K. Z. Stanek report/s a classification of object: SN 2016cym
Type: SN Ia
Remarks: Optical spectra (range 350-760nm) of the supernova candidate ASASSN-16gq/AT2016cym was obtained on UT 2016 July 2.2 with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST). Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that ASASSN-16gq is a normal Type Ia SN at +5 days after maximum light.
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
Obsdate: 2016-07-02 04:53:48
Instrument: FAST
Telescope: FLWO 1.5m Tillinghast
