FilippenkoLOSSSN IIPLOSSWe report that a CCD spectrum (range 350-1050 nm) of AT2016cyw was obtained on Aug. 02.5 with the 3-m Shane reflector (+ Kast spectrograph) at Lick Observatory. The object was classified via cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "SuperNova IDentification" code (SNID; Blondin & Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) including the updated templates of Silverman et al. (2012 MNRAS, 425, 1789) and Liu & Modjaz (2014 arXiv:1405.1437). We find that AT2016cyw is a Type IIP supernova likely several months post-explosion. SNID identifies spectroscopic similarities to SNe 2004et and 2004dj. See Astronomer's Telegram #9309.2016TNSCR.518....1H

Comments

The coordinates of this object - 2016cyw - were updated according to the coordinates reported by PS1, and object 2016ezm was removed.

The AT 2016cyw transient was observed on 2016 07 07.04745 by M.Caimmi from C92 - Valdicerro Observatory, Loreto (AN) Italy using 0.24-m f/6.5 SCT + CCD Atik 314L in the course Italian Supernovae Search Project (ISSP). Stack of 15 unfiltered b2x2 frames x 30sec unguided exposures, show the source at 17.6 Mag. The end figures for astrometry were AR. 56.28s DEC. 43.9" position measured from UCAC-4 reference stars catalogue.
