G. Halevi, H. Yuk, I. Shivvers, A. V. Filippenko report/s a classification of object: SN 2016cyw

Type: SN IIP

Remarks: We report that a CCD spectrum (range 350-1050 nm) of AT2016cyw was obtained on Aug. 02.5 with the 3-m Shane reflector (+ Kast spectrograph) at Lick Observatory. The object was classified via cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "SuperNova IDentification" code (SNID; Blondin & Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) including the updated templates of Silverman et al. (2012 MNRAS, 425, 1789) and Liu & Modjaz (2014 arXiv:1405.1437). We find that AT2016cyw is a Type IIP supernova likely several months post-explosion. SNID identifies spectroscopic similarities to SNe 2004et and 2004dj. See Astronomer's Telegram #9309.
