Date Received (UTC): 2016-12-17 12:38:08
Sender: Prof. Krzysztof Stanek
Source Group: ASAS-SN

K. Z. Stanek, for the ASAS-SN team report/s the discovery of a new astronomical transient.

IAU Designation: AT 2016iwu
Discoverer internal name: ASASSN-16ox
Coordinates (J2000): RA = 01:34:05.755 (23.52398) DEC = +30:22:39.72 (30.3777)
Discovery date: 2016-12-17 08:23:59 (JD=2457739.8499884)

Potential host galaxy: M33
Host redshift: -0.000597

Remarks: Bright transient near a spiral arm of M33! Matches to a red SDSS source, so most likely an M-dwarf flare, but should be observed as soon as possible.
