N. Morrell, B. J. Shappee report/s a classification of object: SN 2016izf
Type: SN IaRedshift: 0.034
Remarks: We report on an optical spectroscopic observation of supernova candidate ASASSN-16pa (ATel #9893, AT 2016izf) using the du Pont 2.5-m telescope (+ WFCCD) at Las Campanas Observatory on UT 2016-12-25.04. We used SNID (Blondin & Tonry, 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) to identify the type and phase of the SN spectra. The spectrum matches normal SNe Ia, a couple of days before maximum (-1.3 +/- 4.7). SNID estimates z=0.034 +/- 0.004.
The following Classification spectrum was provided:
Obsdate: 2016-12-25 00:59:06
Instrument: WFCCD
Telescope: Las Campanas Observatory du Pont telescope
