Simone Leonini report/s the discovery of a new astronomical transient.

IAU Designation: SN 2017fof
Coordinates (J2000): RA = 16:54:23.79 (253.599125) DEC = +41:20:09.70 (41.336028)
Discovery date: 2017-07-16 21:21:23 (JD=2457951.38985)

Potential host galaxy: UGC10602

Remarks: Simone Leonini report the discovery by S. Leonini, M. Conti, L.M. Tinjaca Ramirez and P. Rosi of a PSN (Mag. 17.56CR - USNOB1 catalogue) in UGC10602 at Montarrenti Observatory, Siena, Italy (C88), in the course of Italian Supernovae Search Project using a 0.53m f/8.7 Ritchey-Chretien telescope (+ Apogee Alta U47 CCD camera). No stellar source is visible at the position of the apparent supernova in our past images including one dated 04Th Jul 2017. No known minor planets are marked in that position for the time of our observation. Confirmation image taken on 19th Jul 2017 (UT 21:57:53 - Mag. 17.08CR - USNO B1 catalogue)
