Stanek (OSU)ASAS-SNSN IaASAS-SNWe obtained an optical spectrum of ASASSN-17pk/AT2017iji on UT 2017 Nov. 21.5 with FAST mounted on the FLWO 1.5m telescope. The spectrum is that of a normal Type Ia caught early. The best fit templates with SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007) are of normal SN Ia at <~1 week before maximum light After correcting the spectrum for the redshift of the host galaxy (z=0.013493), we measure a Si II 6355 Ang. expansion velocity of 14500 km/s from the minimum of the P-Cygni absorption through.
