Jamison Burke, Iair Arcavi, Daichi Hiramatsu, D. Andrew Howell, Curtis McCully, Stefano Valenti report/s a classification of object: SN 2018gep

Type: SN Ic-BL
Redshift: 0.032

Remarks: Using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024), we find multiple fits to Ic-BL around maximum light. We measure the ejecta velocity to be roughly 24,000 km/s, consistent across features of CaII, MgII, FeII, SiII, and OI. This value is high even for a Ic-BL, but within the parameter space of previous samples (Modjaz et al. 2016, ApJ, 832, 108). We measure the redshift to be 0.032 based on narrow host galaxy hydrogen lines.
