Daichi Hiramatsu, Iair Arcavi, Jamison Burke, D. Andrew Howell, Curtis McCully, Stefano Valenti report/s a classification of object: SN 2018hpu

Type: SN Ia
Redshift: 0.067

Remarks: Using Superfit (Howell et al. 2005, ApJ, 634, 1190) and SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024), we find a reasonable fit to the Type Ia SN 1999aa around the maximum light. We measure the redshift of 0.067 from the host galaxy Na absorption. The somewhat red spectrum and the presence of Na absorption suggest some host extinction. At the redshift of 0.067, the absolute magnitude in V-band taken at 2018-10-31 08:10:21 is -20.2 mag, indicating that this may be an over-luminous Type Ia. We measure the SiII velocity of 14,000 km/s from the absorption lines.
