Stanek (OSU) ASAS-SNSN II0.01905ASAS-SNWe obtained an optical spectrum of ASASSN-18el on UT 2018 Mar 9.5 with OSMOS mounted on the MDM 2.4m telescope at KPNO. The spectrum has a blue continuum with blue weak and broad Balmer lines in emission, consistent with a young Type II SN. The redshift of the host galaxy obtained from nebular emission lines is z=0.01905.
