Photometry from LCO shows that the object has an i-band absolute magnitude of about -13 (m_i = 16.4). Because of the absolute magnitude and spectral shape, we classify the object as an intermediate luminosity red transient (ILRT).

H-alpha image of the field containing AT1019abn in M51 obtained with the APO 3.5 meter telescope on 23 January 2018. Location of the transient is shown by the red circle.

This image taken on 13 April 2018 shows the field containing AT2019abn on the same same scale as the 15 January 2019 and 16 February 2019 images showing the transient in M51. This is a 2.2 micron (MK-Ks filter) image of the field obtained with the Apache Point Observatory 3.5 meter telescope as part of a program searching for near-IR transients in twenty-four nearby galaxies.

AT2019abn was detected on 15 January 2019 (MJD= 2458499.07) with the Apache Point Observatory 3.5 meter telescope in the Ks (2.2 micron) filter using the NICFPS infrared camera. The approximate magnitude was 16.4.

Shot from Comana, Giurgiu, Romania, with the Moon at 88%

This transient was observed on 2019 02 15.05877 by M.Caimmi from C92 - Valdicerro Observatory, Loreto (AN) Italy using 0.24-m f/6.5 SCT + CCD Atik 314L in the course Italian Supernovae Search Project (ISSP). Stack of 15 unfiltered b2x2 frames x 30sec unguided exposures, show the source at 17.1 Mag. End figures for astrometry were AR. 42.45s DEC.16.7" position measured from UCAC-4 reference stars catalogue.

Magnitude: undetermined, as a means of brightness comparison the following image showing the area of the AT (yellowish spot on the left) and to the right another yellowish object of slightly more brightness.
The pixel scale is 1:1

Magnitude: undetermined, as a means of brightness comparison I zoomed into the area showing the AT (yellowish spot on the left) and to the right another yellowish object of slightly more brightness.

Vîntdevară Dumitru Ciprian, I confirmation of an apparent transient in M 51, RA = 13 29 42,45 DE = +47 11 15,1 (mag. 17.3) on unfiltered CCD frames, taken with a 0.2-m reflector on in Bârlad Observatory, Bârlad, Vaslui, România.
