Daichi Hiramatsu, Jamison Burke, Iair Arcavi, D. Andrew Howell, Curtis McCully, Stefano Valenti report/s a classification of object: SN 2019cxu

Type: SN Iax[02cx-like]
Redshift: 0.043

Remarks: Using Superfit (Howell et al. 2005, ApJ, 634, 1190) and SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024), we find good a fit to SN 2005hk about a few days before maximum at an inferred redshift of 0.043 (no host redshift measurements available on NED). The apparent r-band magnitude reported by ZTF upon discovery on 2019-04-08 06:30:33 was 18.81, which corresponds to a MW extinction-corrected absolute magnitude of -17.64. We measure a Si II 6355 velocity of -5,000 km/s and Fe III velocities of -5,000 km/s.
