Redshift: 0.267

Remarks: Our MDM spectrum from 2019 June 8 (UT) exhibits a blue continuum and nebular emission lines at a redshift of 0.267, with broader emission components present in the Balmer lines. The nuclear nature of the event raises the possibility of AGN variability or a TDE, although the spectrum does not show other prominent broad lines (i.e., He II 4686) typically seen in the spectra of TDEs. A luminous Type IIn supernova is also a possibility, given the flat nature of the pre-outburst light curve for the host visible in the Gaia observations: http://gsaweb.ast.cam.ac.uk/alerts/alert/Gaia19bsz/ See also Smartt et al.
