M. R. Siebert, E. Strasburger, C. Rojas-Bravo, R. J. Foley report/s a classification of object: AT 2019qiz

Type: TDE
Redshift: 0.0151

Remarks: We report the classification of AT2019qiz as a rising tidal disruption event from spectroscopic observations with the LRIS spectrograph on the Keck I telescope.

The following Classification spectrum was provided:

Obsdate: 2019-09-25 15:10:53
Instrument: LRIS
Telescope: Keck I 10m

Remarks: The spectrum is very blue, peaking blueward of 3200 A in the rest frame. Superposed on the continuum are several emission features, including He II 4686 and Balmer lines. We measure a He II 4686 FWHM of 17,700 km/s, and a H-alpha FWHM of 13,200 km/s. Assuming AT2019qiz is at a distance of 65 Mpc, it currently has an absolute g-band magnitude of Mg ~ -17.5 mag. The ZTF light curve indicates that the TDE is young and still increasing in brightness.
