Andrew Howell, Curtis McCully, Estefania Padilla Gonzalez, Craig PellegrinoGlobal SN ProjectSN Ia0.005838Global SN ProjectUsing Superfit (Howell et al. 2005, ApJ, 634, 1190) and SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024), we find best fits to SNe Ia, including SN 1999aa 11 days before peak and other peculiar over-luminous SNe Ia. The supernova is closest to NGC 3643 (z = 0.005838, dL ~ 25 Mpc; 2004SDSS3.C...0000. NED values). We measure velocities of 25,000 km/s for the Ca II NIR triplet and 24,000 km/s for the Si II 6355 line, although we note the Si II is quite weak compared to other early SNe Ia. In addition to these high velocities we also note extremely strong O I absorption at comparable velocity, and probable detections of C II from the 4267 and 6580 lines. We measure a B-band absolute magnitude of -15.0 roughly coeval with this spectrum. From the high velocities, blue continuum, and absolute magnitude we infer that the supernova is within a few days of explosion, and we encourage further followup.2020TNSCR1105....1B

Taken with a Newton 250mm and Alpy600 for low resolution, from Pyrénées Mountains (France). At altitude 800 meters high.
