The transient was independently discovered and first announced by Koichi Itagaki and designated as PNV J00434013+4127123. The transient approximately located at R.A.=00h43m40.18s +41d27’12”.6 (equinox 2000.0). Which is about 629.8" east and 664.1" north of the center of the NGC224(M31). Nothing is visible at this position on archival images taken on Mar. 04.60139, 2021 (limiting mag 18.5). Images can be found at: http://xjltp.china-vo.org/xn03jr.html

Filipp Romanov (Russia) and David Lane (Saint Mary's University, Canada) report a pre-discovery image and an earlier non-detection of probable nova in M31, designated as AT 2021fbz (also known as PNV J00434013+4127123), on several images taken using the Mini-Robotic Observatory (0.10-m telescope+CMOS sensor) located at Abbey Ridge Observatory, Stillwater Lake, Nova Scotia, Canada. First detection: 2021-03-06T23:40:03 UT (luminance filter, 720s exposure, magnitude ~16.5 CV) Earlier non-detection: 2021-03-06T00:27:26 UT (luminance filter, 780s exposure, limiting magnitude ~17.0 CV)
