The spectrum displays the strong Si II lines characteristic of SNe Ia. Photometric observations show that the B-band increased by ~0.6 mag in the two days leading up to 2017-09-07.026(UTC), at which point the B band apparent magnitude was 16.2 mag.

The transient is shown as a galaxy in SDSS J150404.12+083625.9 (http://skyserver.sdss.org/dr14/en/tools/explore/Summary.aspx?id=1237662264858443954) and has 'unreliable photometry'. It is not present though in the DECaLS or Pan-STARRS surveys from a decade later.
