A narrow H-alpha emission line from the underlying host corresponds to a redshift of z=0.007, which is the same as that of the neighboring galaxy GALEXASC J115153.52-132447.1 (HIPASS Catalog 2006 via NED).

Stanek (OSU) ASAS-SNSN Ia1ASAS-SNWe report optical spectroscopic observations of ASASSN-16bx/2016ajk (ATel #8712) and ASASSN-16cy/2016ayf (ATel #8801) obtained by S. Frank on UT 2016 March 14-15 with OSMOS (range 398-686 nm) mounted on the MDM 2.4m telescope at KPNO. We used SNID (Blondin & Tonry, 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) to aid with the type and phase of the SN spectra. ASASSN-16bx is a Type Ia SN about one month after peak brightness (best fit SNID template is SN1999gd at +34 days) and ASASSN-16cy is a normal Type Ia a couple days before maximum (best fit SNID template is SN2002de at -4 days). After correcting the spectrum of ASASSN-16cy for its host galaxy redshift (z=0.034811), we measure a expansion velocity from the Si II 635.5nm line of 12600 km/s.

By assuming a diffuse feature in the 2D spectral frames is H-alpha, we derive a redshift of approximately z=0.015. With this redshift, the broad features in the supernova spectra are consistent with the hydrogen Balmer series with P Cygni profiles. We therefore classify the transient as a young Type II supernova.

Cross-correlation with a template library using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) shows 2016asf to be a normal type-Ia supernova approximately 10 days pre-maximum light. We find a good fit to the template of SN 2003du at T = -10 days. Our fit yields a redshift of z = 0.021. Using the presumed redshift of z=0.021 we measure an expansion velocity for the Si II (rest 635.5 nm) feature of 14,000 km/s.

Frank on UT 2016 March 14-15 with OSMOS (range 398-686 nm) mounted on the MDM 2.4m telescope at KPNO. We used SNID (Blondin & Tonry, 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) to aid with the type and phase of the SN spectra. ASASSN-16bx is a Type Ia SN about one month after peak brightness (best fit SNID template is SN1999gd at +34 days) and ASASSN-16cy is a normal Type Ia a couple days before maximum (best fit SNID template is SN2002de at -4 days). After correcting the spectrum of ASASSN-16cy for its host galaxy redshift (z=0.034811), we measure a expansion velocity from the Si II 635.5nm line of 12600 km/s.

L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST). Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates the following matches. ASASSN-16dm is a Type II-P SN near peak (best match is SN 2006bp at +3 days), ASASSN-16dn is normal Type Ia SN before maximum light at z=0.012 +/- 0.003 (from SN lines, no host galaxy lines are detected; best match is SN 2007A at -3 days), and ASASSN-16dp is a Type Ia SN about a week after maximum (best match is SN 1999ef at +7 days). After correcting the spectra of ASASSN-16dn and ASASSN-16dp by the redshift of their host galaxies, we measure Si II 635.5nm expansion velocities of 10600 km/s and 11900 km/s, respectively.

StanekASAS-SNSN Ia1ASAS-SNOptical spectra (range 350-760nm) of the supernova candidates ASASSN-16dm/2016blb (ATel #8882), ASASSN-16dn/2016blc (ATel #8885), and ASASSN-16dp/2016bli (ATel #8892), were obtained on UT 2016 April 2 with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST). Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates the following matches. ASASSN-16dm is a Type II-P SN near peak (best match is SN 2006bp at +3 days), ASASSN-16dn is normal Type Ia SN before maximum light at z=0.012 +/- 0.003 (from SN lines, no host galaxy lines are detected; best match is SN 2007A at -3 days), and ASASSN-16dp is a Type Ia SN about a week after maximum (best match is SN 1999ef at +7 days). After correcting the spectra of ASASSN-16dn and ASASSN-16dp by the redshift of their host galaxies, we measure Si II 635.5nm expansion velocities of 10600 km/s and 11900 km/s, respectively.

After correcting the spectrum for the redshift of the host galaxy (z=0.02997 from 6dF), we measure a Si II 635.5nm expansion velocity of ~12000 km/s.

Shishkovsky using the Goodman spectrograph on the SOAR 4.1-m telescope on UT 2016 April 16. Classification with SNID (Blondin and Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) indicates that the transient is a normal Type Ia supernova roughly 18 days after maximum light, at a redshift of z=0.037 (from the SN lines).

2192016-05-13 08:40:40DAO_OTSDave BalamDAO_OTSSN Ia0.0341DAO_OTSA spectrum of ASASSN-16fa = 2016cct (ATEL #9045) was obtained using the 1.82-m Plaskett telescope (National Research Council of Canada) covering the range 375-710 nm (resolution 0.35 nm) on UT May 13.26 that reveals the object to be a type-Ia (normal) supernova near maximum light. Cross-correlation of the spectrum with a template library using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) has yielded a good fit to the type-Ia supernova 1996X at phase T = -1 day. The apparent host galaxy is UGC 6434 with a published (Huchra, J. P. et al., 2012, ApJ Supp. 199) redshift of z = 0.034. If we assume that the redshift is correct for the supernova then we measure an expansion velocity for the Si II (rest 635.5 nm) feature of 10,400 km/s.

Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) show that all 4 transients are Type Ia SNe after maximum light. The spectrum of ASASSN-16fl is most consistent with a Type Ia at +14 days.

We performed a cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) and found the spectrum of ASASSN-16fx to be consistent with a normal Type Ia SN at +1 day after maximum light.
