Cross-correlation with a template library shows ASASSN-16es to be a SN Ia shortly after maximum light. Our best fit is to SN 1991M at T = +3 days. The apparent host galaxy is SDSS J115054.45+021828.1 with no published redshift. The SNID fit yields a redshift of z = 0.015 for the supernova.

Prieto (UDP/MAS)ASAS-SNSN Ia1ASAS-SNAn optical spectrum obtained on UT 2016 Nov. 30.5 with FAST mounted on the FLWO 1.5m telescope shows that ASASSN-16np/AT2016inu is a normal Type Ia after peak. We cross-correlated the spectrum with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) and the spectrum of ASASSN-16np is most consistent with the normal Type Ia SN2005na at +16 days after maximum light.

StanekASAS-SNSN Ia1ASAS-SNOptical spectra (range 350-760nm) of the supernova candidates ASASSN-16dm/2016blb (ATel #8882), ASASSN-16dn/2016blc (ATel #8885), and ASASSN-16dp/2016bli (ATel #8892), were obtained on UT 2016 April 2 with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST). Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates the following matches. ASASSN-16dm is a Type II-P SN near peak (best match is SN 2006bp at +3 days), ASASSN-16dn is normal Type Ia SN before maximum light at z=0.012 +/- 0.003 (from SN lines, no host galaxy lines are detected; best match is SN 2007A at -3 days), and ASASSN-16dp is a Type Ia SN about a week after maximum (best match is SN 1999ef at +7 days). After correcting the spectra of ASASSN-16dn and ASASSN-16dp by the redshift of their host galaxies, we measure Si II 635.5nm expansion velocities of 10600 km/s and 11900 km/s, respectively.

11082017-08-17 00:47:27DAO_OTSDave BalamDAO_OTSSN Ia0.0331DAO_OTSD. D. Balam, Dominion Astrophysical Observatory, National Research Council of Canada, K. Thanjavur (University of Victoria) and E. Hsiao, Florida State University report that a spectrogram (range 390-710 nm, resolution 0.3 nm) of SN 2017gav obtained on Aug. 16.25 UT with the 1.82-m Plaskett Telescope of the National Research Council of Canada, shows it to be a normal type Ia supernova near maximum light. Cross- correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666,1024) suggests that SN 2017gav is most similar to the normal type-Ia supernova at maximum light. Our solution yields a red shift of 0.033.

The spectral features including the continuum are similar to those of SN 1998S few days after explosion, after allowing for a substantial reddening which is consistent with the presence of a strong NaID Galactic absorption (EW~0.6 nm). 15002017-12-04 19:36:57griffinGriffin Hosseinzadeh, Iair Arcavi, D. Andrew Howell, Curtis McCully, Stefano ValentiGlobal SN ProjectSN Ia0.0191Global SN ProjectUsing Superfit (Howell et al. 2005, ApJ, 634, 1190), we find good fits to several Type Ia supernovae 0-2 weeks before maximum light at a redshift of the proposed host galaxy (z=0.019; Falco et al. 1999, PASP, 111, 438 via NED). We measure a Si II velocity of about 16,000 km/s, implying the supernova was discovered soon after explosion, but the absolute magnitude at discovery was about -19, implying it was discovered near maximum light. Together, these could either indicate a young overluminous supernova or a high-velocity supernova at peak.
