Shappee (Carnegie)ASAS-SNSN Ia1ASAS-SNOptical spectra of the supernova candidates ASASSN-16fd/AT2016cdb (ATel #9057), ASASSN-16fe/AT2016cdc (ATel #9057), ASASSN-16fg/AT2016cky (ATel #9059), and ASASSN-16fl/AT2016cnx (ATel #9079) were obtained on UT 2016 June 10 with WFCCD mounted on the du Pont 2.5-m telescope at Las Campanas Observatory. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) show that all 4 transients are Type Ia SNe after maximum light. The spectrum of ASASSN-16fl is most consistent with a Type Ia at +14 days.

MorrellASAS-SNSN Ia0.0291ASAS-SNWe report optical spectroscopic observation of supernova candidate ASASSN-16pl (ATel #9918, AT 2016jdv) using the du Pont 2.5-m telescope (+ WFCCD) at Las Campanas Observatory on UT 2016-12-30.36. We used SNID (Blondin & Tonry, 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) to identify the type and phase of the SN spectra. The spectrum matches normal SN Ia around maximum light. SNID estimates the redshift to be z=0.029 +/- 0.005.

8252017-03-03 13:01:52jlprietoJ. L. Prieto, E. FalcoASAS-SNSN Ia1ASAS-SNWe obtained an optical spectrum of ASASSN-17df/AT2017bos on UT 2017 Mar 2.2 with FAST mounted on the FLWO 1.5m telescope. The spectrum shows features consistent with a Type Ia SN around maximum light on top of strong host galaxy contamination. We measure Si II 6355 Angs. expansion velocity of 9800 km/s from the minimum of the P-Cygni absorption trough.

Wiggins, Tooele, UT, USA, reports his discovery of a possible supernova (mag about 16.4) on an unfiltered CCD frame taken 2018 Sep 28 02:41:31 UT using a 0.35-m f/5.5 reflector near Erda, UT, USA. The new object is located at R.A. 12h08m38.91s, Decl. +68°46’44.99” (equinox 2000.0), about 54 arc seconds NE of the center of NGC 4128. 30072018-11-13 17:55:28iairIair ArcaviNoneTDE0.045731The spectrum shows broad Balmer emission lines on top of a blue continuum, consistent with both a young Type II supernova or a tidal disruption event (e.g. Arcavi et al. 2014, ApJ, 793, 38; Holoien et al. 2014, MNRAS, 445, 3263), as noted by Dong et al. 2018 (ATel 12198). Superfit (Howell et al. 2005, ApJ, 634, 1190) finds better a better fit to the TDE PTF09djl (Arcavi et al. 2014, ApJ, 793, 38) than to young Type II supernovae (though the broad He II emission feature seen in many TDEs is still absent here). Also noted by Dong et al. 2018 (ATel 12198) is that an archival spectrum of the host galaxy from SDSS (from which the redshift in this report is taken, retrieved via DR14) displays strong narrow Balmer absorption features consistent with an E+A / Quiescent Balmer Strong galaxy - an environment strongly preferred by TDEs (Arcavi et al. 2014, ApJ 793, 38; French, Arcavi & Zabludoff, 2016, ApJL, 818, 21). The coordinates reported for this object in Brimacombe et al. (ATel 12194) are more consistent with the center of the host galaxy compared to the coordinates initially reported to the TNS, further strengthening the case for a TDE classification.

The object is visible on 3 images (50s exposures) taken with Slooh robotic telescope T2 (Corrected Dall-Kirkham 17" + FLI PL16803). The object is also visible at the same location with the same telescope at 21h25 UTC (Image available here : https://www.flickr.com/photos/econseil/45618427635 ) and with Slooh robotic UWF telescope (Apochromatic Televue refractor T2, 85mm F/7, focal reducer 0.8x, SBIG ST-10XME) at 20h30 UTC and 21h25 UTC. There was nothing at this location on images taken on 2018-12-28 at 21h15 UTC with the same telescope. There's no known object at this location in TOCP, TNS, AstronomersTelegrams and SIMBAD. No known asteroid either at this location. The object is very close to the location of previous nova M31N 2009-09a, and could be a new outburst of this transient.
