The spectrum is that of a normal Type Ia caught early. The best fit templates with SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007) are of normal SN Ia at <~1 week before maximum light After correcting the spectrum for the redshift of the host galaxy (z=0.013493), we measure a Si II 6355 Ang. expansion velocity of 14500 km/s from the minimum of the P-Cygni absorption through.

The new object is located at R.A. 12h08m38.91s, Decl. +68°46’44.99” (equinox 2000.0), about 54 arc seconds NE of the center of NGC 4128. Wiggins notes that nothing was visible at this position on an image taken the previous night on Sep 27.
