The new object is located at R.A. 20h34m44.24s, Decl. +60°11’35.9” (equinox 2000.0), about 153” NW of the center of NGC 6946. The discovery image was posted temporarily at URL http://users.wirelessbeehive.com/~paw/ngc6946-1.jpg. Wiggins notes that nothing was visible at this position on an image taken on May 12.

We performed a cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024). The spectrum of ASASSN-16jc is most similar to the spectrum of the normal SN2007F at -6 days before maximum light.

AndersonNoneSN Ia0.020721While looking at archival VIMOS data of SN host galaxies in the ESO archive, we found that one of the observations of NGC 0692 had a bright source that was not present in archival DSS images. We extracted a 2-arcsec aperture spectrum (4850-10000 A) at that location, and it clearly showed the main features of a type Ia supernovae at maximum light (S II W, Si II 5972 A, and Si II 6355 A). Host galaxy emission lines were superposed to the SN spectrum, and we measured a redshift of 0.02072 from H-alpha (in agreement with the galaxy redshift reported in NED, 0.02118). We estimate a Si II 6355 velocity of 12100 km/s. Comparing the SN spectrum with templates of several SNe of different types, GELATO (Harutyunyan et al., 2008, A&A, 488, 383) found the best fit to SNIa 2005am at +2.7 days past B-band maximum.

The new object approximately located at R.A.=19h43m40.29s +56d06'36".3 (equinox 2000.0). Which is about 3.2" west and 2.3" north of the center of the NGC 6824. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that 2011df is most similar to the type-Ia supernova 1989B a few days before maximum light.

The spectrum resembles that of the broad line Type Ic SNe 2002ap and 1997ef about 10-15 days after light curve peak. A fairly good match is also obtained with that of a normal Type Ic event such as SN 2004ew (Taubenberger et al. 2006, MNRAS, 371, 1459) at a slightly earlier phase (3-5 days after maximum). We note that a prominent narrow interstellar Na I doublet is observed in absorption at the host galaxy redshift, with an EW = 3.6 A, suggesting significant line-of-sight reddening. The redshift of NGC 6798 is from Theureau et al. 1998, A&AS, 130, 333.
