192016-01-19 16:28:11iairI. Arcavi, G. Hosseinzadeh, D. A. Howell, C. McCully (LCOGT/UCSB)LCOGT SN-KPSN Ia0.0451LCOGT SN-KPWe obtained a spectrum of AT 2016D on 2016 January 17.5 UT with the LCOGT robotic FLOYDS instrument mounted on the Faulkes Telescope South. Using Superfit (Howell et al. 2005, ApJ, 634, 119) and SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024), we find good fits to a Type Ia supernova 2-3 weeks after maximum light at the redshift of the host galaxy (z=0.045; Huchra et al. 2012, ApJS, 199, 26). A similar classification (obtained with different data) was first reported by Hounsell et al. (2016, ATel 8546). We find the spectrum to be highly reddened with E(B-V) ~ 1.1. Correcting for some of the host galaxy contamination we find that the SN magnitude is V~18.7 (corresponding to an absolute magnitude of -17.8 at the observed redshift).

882016-02-11 06:41:18DAO_OTSDave BalamDAO_OTSSN Ia0.0261DAO_OTSA spectrum was obtained of AT2016adn on UT Feb. 11.30 UT using the 1.82-m Plaskett telescope (National Research Council of Canada) covering the range 380-910 nm (resolution 0.51 nm). Cross-correlation with a template library using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) shows 2016adn to be a normal type-Ia supernova approximately 2 days post maximum light. We find a good fit to the template of SN 1994ae at T=+2 days. Our (SNid) solution yields a redshift of z=0.026. A nearby galaxy and possible host is 2MASX J03103162+0416184 with a published (NED) redshift of z=0.023. Using the presumed redshift of z=0.023 we measure an expansion velocity for the Si II (rest 635.5 nm) feature of 10,600 km/s.

There is a star very close to the new transient point source. I do feel that the position is slightly different however it is possible that this is the same star. Follow up is recommended.

1842016-04-10 02:48:43jlprietoJose Prieto, Stu Parker, Ben ShappeeNoneSN II0.0104221ASAS-SNThe spectrum shows a blue continuum with broad Balmer P-Cygni profiles, consistent with a normal Type II SN a few days after explosion. After correcting for the redshift of the host galaxy, we measure an H-alpha velocity of -9400 km/s from the minimum of the P-Cygni absorption trough. We also detect a broad absorption feature to the blue of H-alpha at 6215 Angstroms, which is seen in some spectra of young Type II SN and has been identified as the Si II 6355 feature. The velocity of this profile would be -6700 km/s if its Si II.

The new object doesn't appear to move on four diiferent images made during the search and a seach in MPChecker doesn't show any know asteroids of coments in the area. We tried to obtain remote control observations from Mexico and Australia but weather doesn't permit any. The place of the newly found object was searched also for stars from USNO A2 catalogue and nothing was recorded there as well. Astrometry calculations were made from the web page www.astrometry.net and the images were compared in Aladin java applet from CDS. I've searched throught the AT list in TNS and also the web page Bright Supernovae doesn't report any PSN in that area as well.

Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) show that all 4 transients are Type Ia SNe after maximum light. Andrew Howell, Curtis McCully, Stefano ValentiGlobal SN ProjectSN Ia0.0171Global SN ProjectUsing SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024), we find several good fits to the normal Type Ia supernovae in the week before maximum light at redshifts consistent with that of the proposed host galaxy (z=0.017; Barmby & Huchra 1998, AJ, 115, 6 via NED). The supernova is highly extinguished by its host galaxy, making a more precise phase estimate difficult.
