Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that 2011de is most similar to the type-Ia supernova 2003du at one week before maximum light.

We cannot confirm the find with another observatory and the remotely controlled ones aren't available at the time writing this report so follow up observations are needed. There is no known object at the specific coordinates in the TNS database nor any comets/asteroids reported from MPChecker during the time of observation. The object follows the convolution pattern of the local seeing conditions and doesn't appear to move between the three 15sec exposures made and cannot be found in any survey images from DSS. Star catalogue USNO A2 doesn't show any known stars at the coordinates of the suspect either.

Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST). Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that ASASSN-16gq is a normal Type Ia SN at +5 days after maximum light.
