Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that 2011de is most similar to the type-Ia supernova 2003du at one week before maximum light.

At this redshift, the reported discovery magnitude corresponds to an absolute magnitude of -20.1.

Star catalogue USNO A2 doesn't show any known stars at the coordinates of the suspect either.

The spectrum shows that ASASSN-16nm is a Type Ia SN after maximum light. We cross-correlated the spectrum with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024). The spectrum of ASASSN-16nm is most consistent with a normal SN Ia at +8 days after maximum light.
