The velocity of the SN ejecta, as inferred from the position of the minimum of the Si II 635.5 nm feature, is about 10800 km/s. 16492018-01-17 00:37:22jlprietoE. Falco, M. Calkins (Harvard CfA), J. L. Prieto (UDP/MAS), K. Z. Stanek (OSU) ASAS-SNSN II1ASAS-SNWe report optical spectroscopic observations of the ASAS-SN transients ASASSN-18am/AT2018gk, ASASN-18ao/AT2018gm, and ASASSN-18ap/AT2018gn (ATel #11178), obtained on UT 2018 Jan 14-16 with FAST (range 3600-7450 Angstroms) mounted on the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope. We used SNID (Blondin & Tonry, 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) to aid with the type, phase and redshift determination. ASASSN-18am has a blue continuum, relatively weak and broad H-alpha (FWHM ~ 5000 km/s), and strong He II in emission (narrow and broad features), consistent with a young Type II SN.

16412018-01-16 02:08:56msiebertG. Dimitriadis, M. R. Siebert, R. J. Foley (UCSC)NoneSN Ia0.0181Similar to SN 1986G and other "transitional" SNe Ia. We measure an Si II 6355 velocity of -11,500 km/s. We detect a subtle absorption feature at ~6350 A, which may be caused by C II 6580 at -10,600 km/s. The cool photosphere and possible carbon detection are both notable features of the peculiar SN 2006bt (Foley et al., 2010, ApJ, 708, 1748).

Shappee (IfA, UH Manoa), Subo Dong, Subhash Bose (KIAA, PKU)SCATSN Ia0.0391SCATThe Spectral Classification of Astronomical Transients (SCAT) survey reports the classification of ASASSN-18kn (SN2018btm) as a Type Ia supernova roughly a month after maximum light. The observations were taken with the SuperNova Integral Field Spectrograph (SNIFS) on the University of Hawaii 88-inch (UH88) telescope ranging from 330-970nm. The classification was determined using a library of supernovae spectra (SNID, Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024). The spectrum also matches that of a 91bg-type SN Ia but the quality is too poor to say definitively.

Andrew Howell, Curtis McCully, Stefano ValentiGlobal SN ProjectSN Ib0.024171Global SN ProjectUsing Superfit (Howell et al. 2005, ApJ, 634, 1190) and GELATO (Harutyunyan et al., 2008, A&A, 488, 383), we find several good fits to Type Ib around the maximum light at the redshift of proposed host galaxy (z=0.024170; SDSS DR6, via NED). There are some disagreements in the phase, however, the last non-detection limit suggests it is around maximum.

22772018-07-15 19:27:52jlprietoL. Khlat (ENS-Lyon), J. L. Prieto (UDP), S. Dong (KIAA-PKU)ASAS-SNSN II0.0138361ASAS-SNWe obtained an optical low-resolution spectrum of supernovae candidates on UT 2018 July 15 with WFCCD mounted on the du Pont 2.5m telescope at Las Campanas Observatory. The spectrum of ASASSN-18ou/AT2018dfh is that of a Type II after maximum light. SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007) gives a best fit age of +8 days after maximum light. The spectrum shows characteristics of normal Type IIP in the plateau phase and Type IIn supernovae (including a narrow P-Cygni profile with v ~ -500 km/s on top of broad FWHM ~ 8000 km/s H-alpha line), with similarities to SN1996L (Benetti et al. 1999, MNRAS, 305, 811).

Dong (KIAA-PKU)ASAS-SNSN Ia0.0263851ASAS-SNWe obtained an optical low-resolution spectrum of supernovae candidates on UT 2018 July 14 with WFCCD mounted on the du Pont 2.5m telescope at Las Campanas Observatory. The spectrum of ASASSN-18pb/AT2018djd is that of a Type Ia-norm supernova before maximum light. SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007) gives a best fit age of -2.3 days before maximum light and z=0.024 as the redshift, consistent with the host galaxy redshift.

We identify some features as likely being He II 4686, H beta, He I 5876, and H alpha in emission. All lines have FWHM of ~12,000 km/s. Using a distance modulus of 34.4 mag to the host galaxy and correcting for MW extinction, the discovery magnitude corresponds to M = -18.5 mag, similar to other TDEs, but more luminous than most SNe II. From the confirmation image, the transient appears coincident with the nucleus of its host galaxy. ATel 11865
