Our best SNid fit is to SN 2003du at T about 1 week post-maximum. If the host is valid then the expansion velocity of the ejected material, as inferred from the position of the absorption of the Si II 635.5-nm line, is about 8300 km/s.

1892016-04-11 20:45:40jlprietoJ. L. Prieto, B. J. ShappeeNoneSN Ia0.029971The spectrum shows characteristics of a (likely peculiar) Type Ia supernova. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) and chi2-by-eye shows that the best matches are the spectra of SN2007if ("super-chandra") and SN2002ic (Ia-CSM) a few days after max, but there are also reasonably good matches with some SN1991T-like SNe. After correcting the spectrum for the redshift of the host galaxy (z=0.02997 from 6dF), we measure a Si II 635.5nm expansion velocity of ~12000 km/s.

6212016-12-06 12:35:38jlprietoN. Morrell (LCO), B. J. Shappee (Carnegie)ASAS-SNSN Ia0.0321ASAS-SNWe report optical spectroscopy (range 370-910 nm) of four supernovae discovered by the All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae using the du Pont 2.5-m telescope (+ WFCCD) at Las Campanas Observatory on 2016 Aug. 1-2. We performed a cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024). The spectrum of ASASSN-16gz/AT2016cyz is consistent with a Type Ia at +45 days after maximum and with a redshift of z=0.032 (from SN features).

The spectrum of ASASSN-18om/AT2018ddx is that of a Type II supernova before maximum light, showing a blue continuum and broad/weak H-alpha in emission. SNID gives a best fit subtype SN IIb with an age of -7.4 days before maximum light and z=0.027 as the redshift. Shappee (Carnegie)ASAS-SNSN Ia0.03861ASAS-SNOptical spectra of the supernova candidates ASASSN-16fd/AT2016cdb (ATel #9057), ASASSN-16fe/AT2016cdc (ATel #9057), ASASSN-16fg/AT2016cky (ATel #9059), and ASASSN-16fl/AT2016cnx (ATel #9079) were obtained on UT 2016 June 10 with WFCCD mounted on the du Pont 2.5-m telescope at Las Campanas Observatory. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) show that all 4 transients are Type Ia SNe after maximum light. The spectrum of ASASSN-16fe is most consistent with a Type Ia at +15 days. The SNID redshift from the SN features is z=0.0386.
