No stellar source is visible at the position of the PNV in our last images on Dec. 18.6875. No known minor planets are marked in that position for the time of our observation.

Castellani, Verona, Italy reports the discovery by Raffaele Belligoli, Flavio Castellani and Claudio Marangoni, in the course of the ISSP Italian Supernovae Search Project, of an apparent nova in two images taken with a Moravian G4-9000 KAF CCD unfiltered, from Monte Baldo Observatory (Ferrara di Monte Baldo, Verona, Italy), with the 0.4m f.8 Ritchey-Chrétien telescope, obtained on 2018 October 13.822 and 13.845 UT. The new object is located at RA 00 42 40.12 DEC +41 17 27.3 (equinox 2000.0) Apparent magnitude about 17.5 in host Galaxy M31. Nothing is visible at this position on the reference image of 19Th september 2018. Offset '43.7W 81.3N' from the center of M31 (see link to discovery image below). Apparent magnitude 17.5 V (err +/- 0,2).

The discovery magnitude is 17.5±0.04 mag in the CV band (clear visual). We will continue to monitor the nova light curve and strongly encourage additional follow-up observations.
