PrietoASAS-SNSN Ia1ASAS-SNAn optical spectrum obtained on UT Dec 1.9 with FAST mounted on the FLWO 1.5m telescope shows that ASASSN-16nv/AT2016ipi is a normal Type Ia at peak. We cross-correlated the spectrum with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024). The spectrum of ASASSN-16nv is most consistent with the spectrum of the normal Type Ia SN2006cf at +2 days after maximum light.
