The spectrum (390-990nm) was obtained on UT 2016 Jan. 12.3 with the LDSS3 mounted to the Clay telescope at Las Campanas Observatory. The object is similar to that of a type-II supernova at a few weeks post-explosion, clearly showing H-alpha and H-beta absorptions and strong Fe lines characteristic of this SN type. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ 666, 1024) gives a best match to SN 2006bp at +34 days since explosion. Correcting for the redshift of its host galaxy, PGC 26383 (0.011208), its expansion velocity is around 7780 km/s measured from the H-alpha absorption minimum.

A narrow H-alpha emission line from the underlying host corresponds to a redshift of z=0.007, which is the same as that of the neighboring galaxy GALEXASC J115153.52-132447.1 (HIPASS Catalog 2006 via NED).

Cross-correlation of the spectrum with a template library using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) shows a good match to the type-IIP SN 2014et at -3 days, confirming the results of Hosseinzadeh et al. (ATel 8748). The host redshift of z = 0.004 from numerous narrow interstellar emission lines yields an expansion velocity for the supernova of 10,700 km/s, measured to the trough of the H-alpha line.
