Stanek (OSU)ASAS-SNSN II0.02661ASAS-SNWe obtained an optical spectrum (range 3600-9200 Angs) of ASASSN-16ml/AT2016hpt on UT Oct. 31.0 with WFCCD mounted on the du Pont 2.5m telescope at Las Campanas Observatory. The spectrum shows broad (FWHM ~ 10000 km/s) Balmer lines and a blue continuum, consistent with a young Type II SN. From narrow H-alpha and [O III] 5007 lines, we measure a redshift of z=0.0266 for GALEXASC J215436.98-425103.9, the host galaxy of ASASSN-16ml.

The temperature of ASASSN-16mx is between 35,000 and 45,000 as measured from a blackbody fit, consistent with a CV in outburst. We note that the transient is at relatively high latitude (-49 deg).

5962016-12-02 17:11:36jlprietoP. Berlind, E. Falco, J. L. PrietoASAS-SNSN Ia1ASAS-SN An optical spectrum obtained on UT 2016 Nov 30.5 with FAST mounted on the FLWO 1.5m telescope shows that ASASSN-16nt/AT2016iol is a normal Type Ia after maximum. We cross-correlated the spectrum with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024). The spectrum of ASASSN-16nt is most consistent with the spectrum of the normal Type Ia SN2005hf at +11 days after maximum light.

7082017-01-11 03:52:19jlprietoN. Morrell, B. ShappeeASAS-SNSN Ia0.02151ASAS-SNWe report optical spectroscopic observation of supernova candidate ASASSN-16pd/2016jab (ATel #9898) using the du Pont 2.5-m telescope (+ WFCCD) at Las Campanas Observatory on UT 2016-12-24.24. The target was discovered by the All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae (ASAS-SN; Shappee et al. 2014, ApJ, 788, 48). We used SNID (Blondin & Tonry, 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) to identify the type and phase of the SN spectra. The spectrum matches normal SN Ia, few days before maximum light. Narrow Halpha emission is visible at z=0.0215. The SNID estimated redshift (z=0.022) is consistent with this value.

We used SNID (Blondin & Tonry, 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) to identify the type and phase of the SN spectra. The spectrum matches normal SN Ia around maximum light. SNID estimates the redshift to be z=0.029 +/- 0.005.

6872017-01-04 14:26:43jlprietoJ. L. PrietoASAS-SNSN IIn0.07681ASAS-SNWe report an optical spectroscopic observation of ASASSN-16pp/AT2016jgr (ATel #9927) on UT 2017 Jan 3.03 using the du Pont 2.5-m telescope (+ WFCCD) at Las Campanas Observatory. The spectrum of ASASSN-16pp shows a blue continuum with H Balmer and He I 5876 lines in emission. The lines have a narrow (unresolved) component and an intermediate velocity component (with Gaussian FWHM ~ 2000 km/s) characteristic of a Type IIn SN. We measure a redshift of z=0.0768 from the narrow part of the SN emission lines, which implies an absolute magnitude at discovery of M_V ~ -20.4.
