FilippenkoLOSSSN IIP1LOSSWe report that a CCD spectrum (range 350-1050 nm) of AT2016cyw was obtained on Aug. 02.5 with the 3-m Shane reflector (+ Kast spectrograph) at Lick Observatory. The object was classified via cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "SuperNova IDentification" code (SNID; Blondin & Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) including the updated templates of Silverman et al. (2012 MNRAS, 425, 1789) and Liu & Modjaz (2014 arXiv:1405.1437). We find that AT2016cyw is a Type IIP supernova likely several months post-explosion. SNID identifies spectroscopic similarities to SNe 2004et and 2004dj. See Astronomer's Telegram #9309.

The spectrum shows a blue continuum with Balmer lines in absorption (H-beta EW~9 Angstroms, FWHM ~ 3000 km/s) at redshift z=0 (v_helio ~ -100 km/s), consistent with a Galactic CV in outburst.

Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that ASASSN-16gq is a normal Type Ia SN at +5 days after maximum light.

Shappee (Carnegie)ASAS-SNSN Ia0.0361ASAS-SNWe report optical spectroscopy (range 370-910 nm) of four supernovae discovered by the All-Sky Automated Survey for Supernovae using the du Pont 2.5-m telescope (+ WFCCD) at Las Campanas Observatory on 2016 Aug. 1-2. We performed a cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024). The spectrum of ASASSN-16gm/AT2016cyh is consistent with a Type Ia at +36 days after maximum and with a redshift of z=0.036 (from SN features).
