The spectrum is that of a normal SN Ia around maximum light with strong host-galaxy contamination. Using SNID, the best-fit template is SN2003ic at -4 days with respect to B-band maximum light.

We measure a Si II velocity of about 16,000 km/s, implying the supernova was discovered soon after explosion, but the absolute magnitude at discovery was about -19, implying it was discovered near maximum light. Together, these could either indicate a young overluminous supernova or a high-velocity supernova at peak.

2192016-05-13 08:40:40DAO_OTSDave BalamDAO_OTSSN Ia0.0341DAO_OTSA spectrum of ASASSN-16fa = 2016cct (ATEL #9045) was obtained using the 1.82-m Plaskett telescope (National Research Council of Canada) covering the range 375-710 nm (resolution 0.35 nm) on UT May 13.26 that reveals the object to be a type-Ia (normal) supernova near maximum light. Cross-correlation of the spectrum with a template library using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) has yielded a good fit to the type-Ia supernova 1996X at phase T = -1 day. The apparent host galaxy is UGC 6434 with a published (Huchra, J. P. et al., 2012, ApJ Supp. 199) redshift of z = 0.034. If we assume that the redshift is correct for the supernova then we measure an expansion velocity for the Si II (rest 635.5 nm) feature of 10,400 km/s.

The spectrum is characteristic of a normal SN Ia around peak. Using SNID to fit the spectrum, the best fitting template is the normal SN Ia 2006cf at +2 days. After correcting the spectrum for the redshift of the host, we measure a Si II 6355 Angs. velocity of 11600 km/s.

102016-01-14 02:03:56jujiaYuxin Xin, Jujia ZhangNoneSN IIP0.01491We obtained an optical spectrum (range 350-900 nm) of AT 2016I (ASASSN-16ai, ATel#8537) on UT 2016 Jan. 13.93 with the Li-Jiang 2.4 m telescope (LJT + YFOSC) at Li-Jiang observatory of Yunnan Observatories. The spectrum is similar to that of a type-IIP supernova at a few days after explosion. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) shows that it matches with SN 2004et at t = +6 days since the explosion. Given a recession velocity of 4467 km/s for the host galaxy UGC 09450, an expansion velocity of about 8500 km/s can be deduced from the H-alpha absorption minimum.

Green, Harvard University, report that a spectrogram (range 382-714 nm, resolution 0.3 nm) of PSN J15435325+6745425 = SN 2011de, obtained on May 28.28 UT with the 1.82-m Plaskett Telescope of the NRCC, shows it to be a type-Ia supernova before maximum light. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that 2011de is most similar to the type-Ia supernova 2003du at one week before maximum light.
