2192016-05-13 08:40:40DAO_OTSDave BalamDAO_OTSSN Ia0.0341DAO_OTSA spectrum of ASASSN-16fa = 2016cct (ATEL #9045) was obtained using the 1.82-m Plaskett telescope (National Research Council of Canada) covering the range 375-710 nm (resolution 0.35 nm) on UT May 13.26 that reveals the object to be a type-Ia (normal) supernova near maximum light. Cross-correlation of the spectrum with a template library using SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007, ApJ, 666, 1024) has yielded a good fit to the type-Ia supernova 1996X at phase T = -1 day. The apparent host galaxy is UGC 6434 with a published (Huchra, J. P. et al., 2012, ApJ Supp. 199) redshift of z = 0.034. If we assume that the redshift is correct for the supernova then we measure an expansion velocity for the Si II (rest 635.5 nm) feature of 10,400 km/s.

PrietoASAS-SNSN Ia1ASAS-SN An optical spectrum obtained on UT 2016 Nov 30.5 with FAST mounted on the FLWO 1.5m telescope shows that ASASSN-16nt/AT2016iol is a normal Type Ia after maximum. We cross-correlated the spectrum with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024). The spectrum of ASASSN-16nt is most consistent with the spectrum of the normal Type Ia SN2005hf at +11 days after maximum light.

We performed a cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) and found the spectrum of ASASSN-16fh to be consistent with a normal Type Ia SN at +24 days after maximum.

The spectrum is that of a normal Type Ia around maximum light. SNID (Blondin & Tonry 2007) give a best-fit age of -1 days and redshift consistent with the host galaxy redshift reported in NED.

We measure the ejecta velocity to be roughly 24,000 km/s, consistent across features of CaII, MgII, FeII, SiII, and OI. This value is high even for a Ic-BL, but within the parameter space of previous samples (Modjaz et al. 2016, ApJ, 832, 108). We measure the redshift to be 0.032 based on narrow host galaxy hydrogen lines.

The spectrum of ASASSN-17ad is that of a Type Ia caught on the rise. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the SNID and GELATO give best matches with normal Type Ia at 8-10 days before maximum light. After correcting for the redshift of the host galaxy (z=0.032863), we measure a Si II 635.5 nm expansion velocity from the P-Cygni absorption trough of 15600 km/s.

L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST). Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates the following matches. ASASSN-16dm is a Type II-P SN near peak (best match is SN 2006bp at +3 days), ASASSN-16dn is normal Type Ia SN before maximum light at z=0.012 +/- 0.003 (from SN lines, no host galaxy lines are detected; best match is SN 2007A at -3 days), and ASASSN-16dp is a Type Ia SN about a week after maximum (best match is SN 1999ef at +7 days). After correcting the spectra of ASASSN-16dn and ASASSN-16dp by the redshift of their host galaxies, we measure Si II 635.5nm expansion velocities of 10600 km/s and 11900 km/s, respectively.
